Open Tai Chi workshop: Flow.
July 6, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
To practice Tai Chi is to practice the art of flow, movement without resistance, without corners or breaks, without cease.
While the concept of Flow is relatively easy to understand on a theoretical basis, it’s manifestation within the body can be a decidedly tricky process.
Flow must not only encompass ideas of softness and fluidity, but it must also be sure to not fall into absence of structure, without any direction. Hence the successful embodiment of flow will be non-confrontational but performed through a relaxed but impenetrable structure.
We will spend the day working exercises that will deepen our understanding of and ability to embody flow within our solo form and partner exercises.
For those new to tai chi, simple exercises will be clearly explained, ample opportunity will be given to practice them, and we’ll all get to experience this ‘flow’.
For those with some tai chi experience, we’ll be looking deeper into flow, and examining some of the pitfalls commonly experienced. Attain flow while not sacrificing structural stability.
For the senior students and instructors attending. As always, the question isn’t, ‘can you?’, it’s ‘how well can you?’, where are the limits of our ability and how can we push them back?
Open to all levels of ability and style.
