At Master Ding Academy our practice begins with Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung, commonly translated as ‘standing like a post’ or ‘standing like a tree’
Through the regular practice of Zhan Zhuang chi kung we begin to develop the often quoted, ‘strong body, still mind’.
But if we wish to reap the benefits of its practice we must test to ensure we are employing it’s structures and dynamics correctly.
Much like a bucket with small holes in it, we might try to carry water with it, but all our efforts will be lost. The same is with our practice, it may look right, but without close examination, we’ll never know if it’s fulfilling it’s function.
We’ll be spending the day focussing on the first Chui Kung set, John Ding Yeung San Hey Kung I. Structure and posture testing.
In our Tai Chi journey we will learn many different practices. Forms, chi kung, weapons, pushing hands and applications. If you only have time to practice one thing, make it Chi Kung.
